Well, so much for enjoying a couple of weeks of downtime before surgery. This morning Linda noticed some redness in the same area where she initially saw it back in December, so she called the surgeon who consulted the oncologist, and now surgery will be next Tuesday, April 17 - a week earlier than planned. After four successful rounds of chemo, there are signs that the cancer may be coming back. Persistent stuff, this cancer – proof that every silver lining has a dark cloud around it.
While it is not good to have to accelerate surgery, it is very good that it will happen sooner because the faster surgery happens, the faster they can move to radiation and hormone therapies. Pre-op stuff will be tomorrow morning, and then we’ll enjoy a good weekend with Jess and Adrienne.
I guess it’s time to sing that song made famous by Bob Hope, Thanks for the Mammaries.
